I am a philosophy major and I came to the University of Pittsburgh to pursue an education in the top philosophy department in the world. I was not disappointed. The department here is top class: firstly, the professors and tutors were very patient. Secondly, although I was challenged thoroughly in my coursework, it was still very manageable. Thirdly, philosophy classes in Pitt were very enjoyable. I always came way with something after each class. A shout out to all the philosophy professors I took a class under: Prof Jed, Prof Thompson, Mr. Eisenthal, Prof Wilson, and Prof Dietrich. They taught me to be patient, charitable, and to keep an eye out for unjustified assumptions. In addition to going to class, I lived off campus and made friends with my roommates. They were very welcoming: they accepted me right off the bat, introduced me to the night scene in Pitt, and showed me around the states after the semester ended. I had a good taste of the culture in America, and I’m very glad I was exposed to something entirely different compared to what I am used to. All in all, I think I received a pretty holistic education at Pitt. I’ll definitely encourage anyone who wants to further their philosophy education to come to Pitt. H2P!
