Grades & Credits

At the end of the semester, each instructor or professor will generally assign a letter grade per course. The grades from each course will then contribute to that semester's Grade Point Average, more commonly known as GPA. The table below shows the possible letter grades and the corresponding grade points.  

As a reference, admission to Pitt as an exchange or guest student, typically requires a 3.00 GPA or its equivalent.  As an international student studying at Pitt, Satisfactory Academic Progress to be in compliance with visa regulations requires at least a 2.00 GPA.
